Building trusted federal websites: our long-standing collaboration with PFIPC

A decade-long partnership with PFIPC, a forum led by the U.S. FDA and global enforcement partners, reflects our deep experience in government website development. We applied the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) to create a secure, accessible platform that meets rigorous federal digital standards.

USWDS standards in government web development

What we did: applying USWDS standards in government web development

We established a digital presence for PFIPC built on USWDS, aligning with federal requirements around accessibility, mobile-first design, performance, and usability. The USWDS provides a design system built for government websites — accessible, mobile-friendly, and consistent.

We applied human-centered design principles — starting with real user needs, earning trust, embracing accessibility, promoting continuity, and listening. These are core USWDS principles.

We delivered a modular component-based architecture using USWDS components such as forms, navigation, alerts, and cards so the site is maintainable, scalable, and compliant with federal website standards.

We ensured strong content governance and digital accessibility, as required for any government-affiliated website. Usability, performance, and compliance were built-in, not afterthoughts.

We built trust and continuity through long-term partnership with PFIPC spanning more than ten years, supporting iterative improvements and ensuring the site remains aligned with evolving USWDS maturity models and federal policy.

We produced a site that meets the hallmarks of a government digital service: secure HTTPS, clear .gov (or .org with government affiliation) domain cues, plain language content, accessible design, and fast performance. The underlying design system simplifies compliance with Section 508 and federal website standards.

USWDS web design in government website development

Why USWDS matters in government website development

In the federal space, digital trust and compliance matter more than ever. Agencies must deliver services that are easy to use, accessible to all, and consistent with shared design standards. By leveraging USWDS, we helped PFIPC deliver a site that communicates credibility, accessibility, and clarity for international enforcement and public-health audiences.

Because the site is built for a government-related mission—public health and regulatory cooperation—the design, content, and technical implementation all reflect that mission. Our long-term collaboration demonstrates the value of continuity, domain expertise, and design-system discipline.

Project outcomes and lessons in federal web accessibility

We achieved a web service architecture aligned with federal digital standards, built for multi-agency, international stakeholders.

The site remains easy to update and adapt as enforcement, news, and international collaboration evolve.

Our long-standing relationship with PFIPC means we understand the domain, the digital challenges of government-affiliated sites, and bring matured processes for design, build, and maintenance.

We became fluent in design-system governance, accessibility compliance, layered security, and performance optimization in a government context.

This project has helped position our team as trusted partners for agencies and organizations seeking government-grade website builds.
